STRIKING FINISH ACHIEVED WITH EXCEPTIONAL ONSITE FABRICATION
BLACKNEST is a bespoke contemporary residence with a guesthouse and studio in a lakeside setting. The buildings are wrapped in copper which gives the impression of a woodland canopy and the illusion of a boat hull.
The copper coverings were installed onto overhanging soffits, walls, support columns and window surrounds. In addition, the work included copper cappings, stainless steel internal gutter linings and aluminium standing-seam roofing on the guesthouse. The project was all fabricated on site.
The support columns for the main house were changed to copper after discussion on site, and the contractor ensured that any rainwater runoff was directed away from the lake to prevent harm to the fish stock.
