Roofing manufacturer BMI UK & IRELAND has announced the winners of its 2025 Apprentice of the Year competition.
Marcus Conlan won the Flat Roof title, while Harrison Davies took the Pitched Roof crown. Now in its eighth year, the event was held at the BMI Academy where 20 shortlisted apprentices competed in technical tasks, group challenges and presentations. Alongside the competition, apprentices also heard from industry leaders including Fraser Biles and Matthew Sexton of BMI UK & Ireland, Hayley Reynolds of Itech Roofworks, and Jamie Taylor of Taylor Roofs, covering topics such as the Building Safety Act, career progression and project case studies.
Fraser Biles, Managing Director at BMI UK & Ireland, said:
“We’ve had another brilliant year. The standard of entries was exceptional and everyone who made it to the Academy should be extremely proud.”
Both winners received £1,000, with three years’ complimentary access to BMI training courses, and all finalists were gifted tools from SIG Roofing.
Davies, from Bolton College and A1 Bespoke, said:
“Just being named a finalist was an honour, so to win is honestly unbelievable!”
Conlan, from CITB and the Faskin Group, added:
“Winning this award means so much. It’s been a brilliant couple of days and I’ve enjoyed meeting other apprentices from across the country.”
