The project, based in Middleton-on-Sea, West Sussex, involved demolishing and rebuilding a six-bedroom detached family home. The roof was a significant and technically demanding stage of the build, and the Bald Builders appointed Singers Roofing to assist, with all materials supplied by the SIG Roofing branch in Southampton.
The project received over 4000 linear metres of SRT GOLD® timber batten, a reliable, quality-graded roofing batten that complies with all relevant codes of practice: BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 and BS 8417:2011+A1:2014 (preservation of wood). It is a WPA-approved product, Use Class 2, and a CCPI-assessed product 005300068/0628, and it now has a published Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
The batten and the Permavent breather membrane provided a reliable roof build-up, perfectly supporting the 13,000 SIGnature Henley weathered handmade clay tiles installed on the project.
“We worked closely with SIG Roofing, the largest UK roofing merchant, to determine the appropriate roofing specification for this job. We were very happy with the straightness and consistent quality of the SRT GOLD® battens, which gave us confidence that they will support the roof for years to come.” Said Sam Hughes, Bald Builders.
