However, RAVEN ROOFING SUPPLIES is one such company whose current owners, Mark Applebee and Andrew Morris, are the sons of the two men who first went into partnership in 1972 when Raven was born.
Bill Applebee and Alf Morris were those two business partners and many in the industry will remember them as the ‘true gentlemen’ that they undoubtedly were. To this day the core principles they stood for of friendly, reliable service lives on.
Raven Roofing Supplies now consists of five branches across the south of England. From its inception Raven has moved from being a contracting business, selling off excess roofing materials, to one of the market-leading merchants for the south.
Although the contracting side of Raven is no longer operating, the influence of understanding the contracting world is embedded in the business. Knowing what customers want and need is where the heritage of having experience of contracting really helps.
To keep this understanding going, new recruits, along with established members of the Raven team, attend internal training courses to learn more about the application of the products they sell.
Whilst Mark and Andrew talk passionately about their desire to modernise, they do not forget what made Raven successful in the first place. A friendly, reliable, service ethic is still at the core of what they do, and they fully expect to celebrate further landmark anniversaries in the future.
