The Welsh National Roofing Training Group (WNTRG), which won the CITB Tender earlier this year to deliver NVQ3 Heritage Slating and Tiling qualification for the next three years, welcomed the first group of trainees to the Heritage Craft Centre in Derbyshire.

The course will be delivered over 30 days during the next year, with trainees learning practical skills in the workshop and also exposed to live sites, working with CADW and English Heritage where possible. The trainees will be assessed on site at the end of their course.

David Woolley from Midland Lead attended the first day to offer his support for this course and the NVQ 2 Slating and Tiling course which will also be running in September.

It is great to get support from the industry and thanks Nigel Dyer of Wienerberger who will also be supplying product for the course as well as Shaun Revill of S R Timber,” said WNRTG’s Lesley Hughes.

The NVQ 3 Heritage course and NVQ 2 Roof Slating and Tiling courses run in the Derbyshire, Hereford or South Wales areas. For more information contact Lesley.hughes@wnrtg.co.uk.
