Elevate has launched a RIBA-APPROVED CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) seminar to help specifiers design roofs that improve sustainability.
The CPD explores how different elements in the roof can create a more environmentallysustainable building. The impact of different construction materials at each stage of a building’s life is explained, followed by the importance of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
The core factors to consider when designing a roof add to the learning, including thermal performance, the latest fire regulations and how a correct installation is critical to a project’s success. Delegates will also learn about the role of single-ply roofing membranes, the environmental impact of different types, and how to enhance a roof’s green credentials through measures such as solar panels, and green and blue roof construction.
Carl Bailey, Regional Technical Manager for Elevate UK and Ireland, said:
"As the need to improve environmental sustainability increases across the construction industry, roof design has a key role to play.
"Through our CPD, our aim is to guide specifiers through the key considerations with a focus on flat roof construction, how to choose the most appropriate materials, and the environmental benefits of single-ply waterproofing.
“Delegates will also gain a greater understanding of how to comply with UK British Standards and codes of practice.
