LUCENT W1 is situated at Piccadilly Circus in London. The roof was designed to preserve surrounding views with different areas intersecting at varying angles and pitches, as it cascades down the numerous elevations to the dormers and roof terraces below.
The pitched roof was built offsite in sections, or cassettes, which were hoisted and fixed into position, and then the slate roof coverings applied. Being in such a densely populated area, all slates on the steep elevations were installed wit two nails and a slate hook, far above the requirements of British Standards.
