Don & Low’s Newest Membrane Targets Integrated Solar Roofs

< 1 min

With over two centuries of commitment to innovation and excellence, DON & LOW consistently aligns with the regulations governing efficiency and sustainability, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the construction industry.

As the UK goes green and a new era of sustainable construction practices arises, MultiTX® Solar, Don & Low’s newest roofing underlay, is here to simplify things and unlock the power of solar energy.

Regulatory bodies have introduced stringent standards in recent years regarding solar panel integration, to ensure their safety and efficiency.

From Part L regulations and The Future Homes Standard to the NHBC standards, builders and developers face many requirements to optimise energy performance and minimise environmental impact. Central to these regulations is proper ventilation within integrated solar roofs— a crucial element in preventing moisture build-up and ensuring long-term durability.

Different types of underlay pose varying risks of condensation, with low resistance (LR) underlay potentially increasing condensation risk within the batten space.

On the other hand, when applied, high vapour resistance (HR) underlay negates the need for a ventilated counter-batten space, provided adequate eaves and ridge ventilation are maintained, as per BS 5250 regulations. The launch of Don & Low’s MultiTX® Solar membrane means that builders now have a solution engineered to meet the demands of integrated solar roofs.

By providing a high vapour resistance air and liquid barrier, MultiTX® Solar offers a modern, cost-effective alternative to traditional roofing underlays, all while ensuring compliance with the latest regulations.
