WELL WHAT A PROJECT! But what made DLS SYNCHROTRON stand out to the judging panel was the way that long-term maintenance and safety of maintenance operatives was designed into the scheme, making the roof coverings and the solar panels seamless.
The MAC Roofing team met the challenge of working to tight schedules on a prestigious project which was hugely complicated in nature. The DLS facility remained fully functional without disruption throughout and now benefits from the addition of over 6,000 solar PV panels making it a power generating building—heavily contributing towards the sustainability targets set by the client.
The judges were unanimous when voting DLS Synchrotron as Project of the Year due to the complex shape, the scale of the project and the high standard of workmanship that was required to ensure a quality install.
NFRC’s Head of Technical and Training, Bob Richardson, commented:
“It’s nice to see the journey of a project from conception through to completion, however completion of a project should never just be the handover to the client but how the design, materials and workmanship all come together to ensure that the building can be managed and maintained safely for years to come which is what made DLS Synchrotron stand out above the rest.”
